Laying Pipes - Mr Mads in Action!

Chansar Middle School, the first establishment supported when Engelstoft Foundations began its mission in Cambodia, benefitted from a new school garden and piping system. Founder Mads Engelstoft was there to witness the laying and installation of the drainage pipes for the school's garden. The school previously did not have a proper garden and suffered from flooding due to inadequate drainage during the rainy season. The new garden, was to help to enhance the quality of agriculture lessons and promote sustainable practices among students.

Mr Engelstoft rolled up his sleeves and got hands-on, laying and installing the pipes. Students also joined enthusiastically, and the work became a collaborative effort between students, school staff and the founder. The impact of Mr. Engelstoft's involvement was deeply appreciated. Students and school staff witnessing first-hand, the founder's willingness to get physically involved in improving their school environment, gained a deeper appreciation for the foundations' mission.

The new school garden serves as a practical learning space where students learn to grow and cultivate various crops. With the installation of proper drainage systems, flooding is prevented, also meaning the time and effort of students spent in the garden is not gone to waste. Helping to build a good, sustainable garden for the school also laid the ground works of present programs within Engelstoft Foundations such as the Hope in Seeds (HiS) Schools program which focuses on teaching agriculture in schools.

By focusing on sustainable development initiatives like the vegetable garden project, the foundation aims to empower students with practical skills and knowledge that can benefit them for years to come.
