New School Building - Konseng Primary School
Cambodia experiences two major seasons in a year, the rainy season and dry season, with each season lasting approximately 6 months. The peak of the rainy season culminates in August and September, where rainfall causes much flooding throughout the country, in both major cities and in villages.

Konseng Primary School, located in Chansar Commune, is no exception and would often have their school grounds severely affected by the rain. Students in Grade 5 and 6 students were also the most affected as they did not have a proper classroom, they were using a small shack with a zinc roof in its stead. Rainwater would pour in through the roof and students would have to squeeze with one another in areas that were dry. Students would also have to lift their feet up as rainwater would flood the dirt floor.

Engelstoft Foundations had been working with the school and saw the need for a school building to house the classrooms of the Grade 5 and 6 students. Also, the new building had to be built before the arrival of the rainy season. Construction of the school building would cost USD 20,000. The community of Chansar, upon learning that Engelstoft Foundations would be funding a new school building, offered to contribute. A total of USD 5,000 was raised by the community, with the foundations sponsoring the remaining amount of USD 15,000. Construction started in March 2024, with estimated completion of construction in June 2024.
