Water Tanks - Clean Water For All
Visible from afar, Chansar Middle School houses a 15-meter water tower, standing three-stories high. Funded by various sponsors and Engelstoft Foundations in 2016, the water tower project was conceived to address a critical need for reliable access to clean drinking water, not just for the students but also for the broader community. Prior to its installation, the school faced challenges with water scarcity and sanitation infrastructure. Engelstoft Foundations wanted to support by filling this gap, recognizing that access to clean water is fundamental to not just to the overall well-being, but also health and education.

The construction of the water tower started in July 2016, and completed in October the same year. It was a meticulous process which began with digging and concrete was carefully poured to ensure stability and durability, setting the groundwork for the tower's structure. The tower's upper levels house large water tanks capable of storing sufficient water to meet the needs of the school and the surrounding community.
The bottom level of the water tower serves multiple purposes. In addition to housing the equipment necessary for maintaining and distributing clean water, it also accommodates a kitchen area, benches and tables where students can have meals, and also equipped with basins. Here, students can conveniently wash their hands, promoting hygiene practices that are crucial for their health and well-being.

Beyond immediate benefits of health, sanitation and access to clean drinking water, the water tower represents a long-term investment in the community's future. The installation of the three-storey water tower at Chansar Middle School signifies a milestone in the journey towards improving the standard of living of communities Engelstoft Foundations works with in rural Cambodia.
